Who digs, and how the excavator reaches you

Our low loader brings the excavator to your plot and our operator sits in the cab. You show where to dig and how deep, and he does the digging. Order excavator services and you get the machine, the man who runs it and the trip to your gate in one go.

The soil we dig out can stay in a heap on the plot, wherever you point, if you need it for backfill or levelling. If it has to go, the excavator loads it straight into our tipper, and we tell you the tipper’s price on the phone along with the price of the dig.

Six excavator jobs and what each one involves

Every dig has its purpose and a few things the operator needs to know before the bucket goes in. Here they are, one by one.

Foundation pit

For a house, a garage or an extension. Your builder or a surveyor sets out the outline from the drawings with pegs and string, and the excavator digs a little wider so the formwork fits. The last layer at the bottom is usually trimmed by hand, so the ground under the foundation stays undisturbed.

Tell us The sizes from the drawings, the depth required and where the soil should go.

Water pipe and sewer trench

It runs from the house to the water main, to the sewer manhole in the street or to the septic tank. The water pipe goes below the depth the ground freezes to in winter, and the sewer pipe needs a steady fall, which your plumber sets. Once the pipes are laid and checked, the excavator pushes the soil back in.

Tell us How long the run is, from where to where, and what is in the way: trees, kerbs, other pipes.

Cable trench

Power cable from the pole or the meter to the house, the gate or a lamp in the yard. The trench is narrower than one for pipes, and before it is filled the electrician lays the cable on a bed of sand with warning tape above it.

Tell us The route from the pole or meter to the house and the day your electrician comes.

Cellar

A cellar under the house is dug together with the foundation pit; one in the yard is a job of its own, with its own pit and a sloping entrance or steps. The excavator takes the soil out of the whole pit, the builders put up the walls, and then the soil goes back against them and is packed down.

Tell us Where the cellar goes, how big you want it and whether it sits under the house or apart.

Pond

A garden pond starts with its shape: gentle banks that stay put and a deeper part in the middle. The operator digs to the marked outline, and the soil taken out can build up a bank or raise a low corner of the plot. The liner or clay for the bottom comes after the digging.

Tell us How big and how deep you picture it, and where the soil should go.

Site clearance

Before building or planting, the excavator pulls out stumps with their roots, gathers stones and old rubbish and strips the weedy top layer. Good topsoil can be piled to one side for vegetable beds later, and the rest leaves in the tipper.

Tell us The size of the plot, what grows on it now and where the stumps and rubbish should go.

How a dig goes, from the pegs to the filled trench

For almost every job above the steps are the same. What changes is how long the excavator spends on each.

  1. Setting out

The place is marked before the excavator comes: pegs and string, or a line of lime on the ground. The operator digs to the marks, so they need to be right.

  2. Digging

The operator starts at one end and works down to the depth required, putting the soil where it stays out of his way. Someone who knows the plan should be there at the start.

  3. The soil

It stays on the plot where you point, or leaves in our tipper, loaded straight from the bucket. Decide which before the day, so we know where to begin.

  4. Backfill and levelling

When the pipes, cable or walls are in, the excavator brings the soil back and smooths the place over. Whatever is left over is spread on the plot or taken away too.

Several jobs on one plot, in one visit

The excavator reaches you on a low loader, so it makes sense to gather everything there is to dig on the plot. Give us the whole list at the start and we do the jobs one after another while the machine is there.

  • The house pit, then the water and sewer trenches out to the street.
  • A yard cellar and a pond, with the cellar’s soil used for the pond’s bank.
  • A plot cleared of stumps, then the pit for an extension’s foundation.

Where the excavator comes

We dig on plots in the city, in the villages that border it and anywhere else in Moldova, and the excavator travels there on the low loader.

Questions about excavator services

How much do excavator services cost?

It depends on the job, its size and the village or sector the plot is in, so you hear the figure when you call. The operator’s work is already counted in.

Does the excavator come with an operator?

Yes, always. Our operator does the digging, from the first bucket to the backfill.

What happens to the soil you dig out?

We leave it on the plot where you show us, or load it into our tipper and it leaves. You learn what the tipper’s runs cost together with the price of the dig.

Can you do several jobs on the same day?

Yes, if they are on the same plot and you name them at the start. The excavator does them one after another while it is with you.

Do you bring sand for the trenches?

Yes, we sell sand and gravel mix and washed sand, and our tipper brings it. Sand usually goes under and over the pipes before the trench is filled.

Something to dig? Tell us the job and the place.

The job, the village or sector and, if you have them, the sizes from the drawings: that is all we need to give you a price and a day.
